Salzburg Travel Tips

Follow in the Footsteps of the Cast on Salzburg "The Sound of Music" Tours

Visiting Salzburg? You'd be remiss if you didn't take in "The Sound of Music" tours that are offered. If you’re a big fan of the film, you’ll probably be anticipating the familiar sights on the tour, but if you're not as familiar with the film, you can still learn a lot from the Salzburg Sound of Music Tours.

The tours take you to all the famous places from the musical. For instance, Mirabell Gardens is where Maria and the children dance around a statue of Pegasus, Leopoldskron Palace was used as the Von Trapp family home and Wedding Church Mondsee was the place Maria got married. Listen to the sound track from the film while you travel and hear your guide fill you in on any details you might not know about.

Finding Your Way Around Salzburg Tours and Attractions

Although Salzburg boasts "The Sound of Music" fame, they also have another famous musical act: Mozart.

Visit Mozart Square in the center of Salzburg, where there is a memorial to the child prodigy. You can also visit the house where he was born, lived and worked. You can even stand in the busy alleyway of his birthplace and imagine young Mozart at play. This alley is now a cosmopolitan shopping mile. Finally, you can view the Mozart family tomb in St. Sebastian Church and take in a recital in the evening.

There are also other Salzburg tours and attractions that are must-sees. There are the stunning views from Salzburg Fortress, the city’s cathedral and Residenz Castle. Visit the Bavarian Mountains to take in the scenery of the country, as well as enjoy the chocolate!
